Welfare through enterprise
Fauji Foundation was established from a post-war reparation fund of Rs 18.4 million set aside for the veterans of the sub-continent. Rather than distribute it as one-time grants, the trustees invested it — creating a socially driven organisation that is today fully self-sustained by its own commercial investments, without reliance on government funding.
For over six decades this welfare-by-enterprise model has funded hospitals, schools, colleges, a university, vocational training and stipends — supplementing the Government's effort for ex-servicemen, their families, widows and the dependents of the Shuhada.
